The Employee Assistance Program
Problems,
Problems...
It has been
shown that problems on the job and difficulties away from work are
often the root of such critical workplace issues as: Workplace Violence,
Absenteeism, High Accident Rate, High Workers' Compensation Claims,
Overused Health Insurance, Low Employee Productivity.

Fact #1
About 2 million
people a year were victims of violent crime or threatened in the
workplace from 1992 to 1996. Source: US Justice
Department
Domestic violence,
marital discord, alcohol and drug abuse, financial troubles, mental
health issues, depression, and other problems are hard to leave
at home. Inevitably, these issues creep into the workplace, create
a troubled employee and affect your bottom line.

Fact #2
Troubled employees are absent from work 2.5 to 5.5 times more than
their peers. Source: The Bureau of Natinal Affairs
How does an
EAP help?
Many businesses offer EAP benefits on a voluntary basis to their
employees, and most include a component that allows supervisors
to mandate a referral to the EAP as a condition of continued employment.
Either way, EAP counselors are trained to help employees cope with
life outside of work so their on-the-job performance increases.

Fact #3
"Rather than fire a troubled but otherwise satisfactory worker,
many companies offer Employee Assistance Programs." Source:
