Gifts support child and adolescent programs; upcoming premier fundraising concert

GREENVILLE, S.C., – Compass of Carolina announced today grants totaling $20,000 from Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) to support two of its key programs for children and adolescents: Domestic Violence Starts Small and Second Chance, as well as the upcoming Chords of Compassion: Concert for a Cause event.

“We are pleased to continue our support of Compass of Carolina in leading efforts to build a community where the safety and well-being of all individuals is achieved,” said Wells Fargo Western South Carolina Region Bank President Justin Hawkins. “The counseling and education of children, adults and families who have been or are going through a crisis is essential to making a positive difference in our community.”

Funding for Domestic Violence Starts Small will help provide free therapy hours for children and adolescents victimized by witnessing domestic violence in their home. The gift will also support Second Chance, a free prevention program for youth ages 10-17 who have been disruptive or disrespectful at school, home or in the community.

“We greatly appreciate these grants from Wells Fargo that will allow our agency to serve more young people in Greenville,” said Beth Padgett, executive director of Compass of Carolina. “Each week, our programs make a significant difference in the lives of dozens of children and teenagers who otherwise could face a bleak future. Through the generosity of Wells Fargo, we will be able to continue providing these programs – at no cost – to our young clients and their parents, removing the financial barriers that otherwise could prevent them from accessing critically needed services.”

Wells Fargo is the title sponsor of Compass of Carolina’s upcoming premier fundraising event, Chords of Compassion: Concert for a Cause. Throughout the year, Compass of Carolina hosts numerous fundraising events, culminating in the Chords of Compassion: Concert for a Cause. Featuring The Jamie Wright Band and a silent auction, the event will be Friday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at The Warehouse Theatre where tickets are available.
